History

Currently a Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dancing Society, London began dancing over forty years ago to the music of such luminaries as Stan Hamilton, Bobby Brown, and Bobby Frew. Recently arrived from Scotland, Mrs. Middleton organized the first club of dancers which was later awarded a Charter that was presented by Miss Jean Milligan in 1961.

In 1986 the branch celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a Silver Jubilee Ball attended by Miss Muriel Gibson, then Secretary of the RSCDS in Edinburgh.

Two of the present branch teachers, Bill and Marie McLennan, were (in 1997) presented with the Society's highest award, the Scroll of Honour.
